Travel and transport support

Getting to an appointment, activity or familiar place can involve more than the journey itself. Talk with Ava Aid about the assistance you need to plan and make trips in Melbourne or elsewhere in Victoria, subject to availability.

Discuss the whole journey

Tell us where you need to go, your preferred times, whether you want someone to accompany you and what help you need at either end. The suitable arrangement depends on the trip, accessibility requirements and available support.

Everyday examples

You might discuss accompaniment to an appointment; support to prepare for a familiar public transport journey; or help planning the steps between home and a community activity. Practising a route can be discussed where it fits the agreed service and worker skills.

Confirm transport and accessibility

Tell us about any mobility aids or accessibility needs, where you need to go and the assistance you would like along the way. We will confirm a suitable transport option, availability and travel arrangements with you before a trip is booked.

Separate the different costs

Ask for a clear explanation of the worker's support time, any provider travel to reach you, participant transport arrangements, fares, parking and cancellation terms. These are different parts of a journey and should not be assumed to share one charge or funding rule.

Support in Melbourne and across Victoria

Tell us your suburb, preferred days and the support you would like. We will discuss availability, worker suitability and any travel arrangements with you before confirming your support.

Before you decide

Ask about the tasks, schedule, rates, travel, changes and cancellation terms that would apply to your arrangement. If you plan to use NDIS funding, clarify how the proposed support fits your plan and funding arrangements before committing.

Questions about transport

How do I arrange transport for an appointment? Tell us the date, destination and any accessibility needs. We will discuss suitable transport and confirm the arrangements with you before the trip is booked.

Can I practise using public transport? Raise the route and the skills you want to practise. We need to confirm the service fit, practical arrangements and worker availability before agreeing support.

Discuss your support

Start with your name, suburb or town in Victoria, the support you want to discuss and how you would like us to contact you. A family member, advocate or authorised referrer can help with your permission. Please do not send an NDIS number, plan or medical records with an initial enquiry.
